People & Lifestyle

As an affluent North Texas town, Prosper has a higher cost of living than some of its neighboring cities, but keep in mind you'll be paying for bigger homes, better schools, more amenities, and low crime rates. As one of North Texas's fastest-growing cities, Prosper has undergone a tremendous transformation throughout the years.

Residing at the crossroads of Denton and Collin Counties, this lovely little town is home to great shopping, sports venues, restaurants, fantastic schools, and an enduring community spirit. The people here are known for their warmth and hospitality. Residents enjoy easy access to some of the best regional shopping, casual and fine dining, and entertainment in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex as Prosper is only 2.5 miles west of the Dallas North Tollway.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

The Gates of Prosper is Prosper's best one-stop-destination for dining, shopping, and service needs for the whole family. A relatively new facility, The Gates of Prosper is located at the intersection of Highway 380 and Preston Road. Anchor stores include Hobby Lobby, Kohl's Walmart, and Dick's Sporting Goods.

When it comes to dining, Prosper has a few excellent restaurants to choose from, like Ernesto's, a branch of a local chain specializing in delicious, authentic Mexican food. First established in 2004, Ernesto's blends a variety of Tex-Mex favorites with Mexican specialties. The Cotton Gin Cafe is a chic, hometown cafe serving hearty breakfast, burgers, and other fried dishes in a comfortable, casual space.

Since Prosper is so close to Dallas and other big cities like Frisco, McKinney, and Plano, you're always right around the corner from world-class entertainment and sports venues.

Things to Do

Prosper's natural beauty is supported by its unique, impressive array of parks and recreation. Boasting almost 469 acres of open space, Prosper has several recreational venues, facilities for sports and fitness, and 42 miles of hike and bike trails. Some of the most popular parks include Frontier Park, which features lighted sports fields, a pond, a playground, a pavilion structure, and a splash pad. Residents also frequent Cedar Grove Park, Eagles Landing Park, Folsom Park, and Lakewood Preserve.

Families will always have their pick of events, community initiatives, and programs to choose from all year long. The Community Picnic is an annual Prosper tradition hosted in Frontier Park, while the Prosper Christmas Festival is a signature event attended by thousands of families. Each year, the festival includes Santa's Workshop, community tree lighting, countless shopping options, and more. Other town events include the Champion Treet Contest to support urban forestry, National Night Out, Fishing Derby, and Arbor Day Celebration.
